It seems half the voters hate Hillary Clinton, and the other half hate Donald Trump. Maybe our real enemy is not Hillary or Trump… but God.
Let me explain. Thirty-six years ago, in 1980, David R. Mains, the Christian radio host of “The Chapel of the Air,” wrote a tiny booklet entitled, “When God Gets Angry with a Nation.”
“I fear, like ancient Israel, we may not realize in all our talk about possible enemies that the worst of all powers to be pitted against us is the Lord!” said Mains.
He believes God is always in control no matter what happens on Earth. God hates sin just as much today as he did during Old Testament days. Mains gives the example to prove his point when God sent his prophet Amos, a shepherd from Judah in about 750 B.C., to the northern 10 tribes of Israel warning them that God’s judgment was coming if the people didn’t repent of their sins and come back to God.
What were their sins? First, the Israelites of Amos’ day were guilty of following the sin of their king combining the worship of the true God with idols. Pagan shrines abound in the land and people flocked there to offer their pagan sacrifices.
The rich people in Israel did not use their wealth to help the poor. The judges and leaders ignored the poor peoples’ cries for justice and help. There was no love or concern for needy people. Basically, Israel’s sins were injustice and dishonesty, an oppressive government that abused the poor, the leaders taking bribes, lavish, luxurious living, fornication that may have even happened in the name of worship and insincere religious worship. For decades, Amos and other prophets warned the nation’s leaders God would punish them if they didn’t repent and stop their sins.
God finally sent a foreign power to conquer Israel; the people were either killed or carted off and were assimilated into other cultures. These 10 Jewish tribes were wiped off the face of the Earth because of God’s wrath.
“I’m presupposing, of course, that God still becomes angry with nations that stray from him,” Mains wrote 36 years ago. “Not that America ever was Christian per se. But at least in past generations the standard of right or wrong certainly was more consistent with the teachings of Scripture than now.
“Divorce was not nearly so common. Magazines featuring male and female nudity and all manner of perversions were not sold in the corner drugstore. Murders didn’t fill page after page of news copy. Hard work was a virtue…The Lord’s Day was respected even by merchants. Cults were a fringe element. Profanity was banned on the national media. No one talked of equal rights for homosexuals. Few took astrology seriously. Public prayer was expected at most function. Virginity was a virtue. Unless it was a most exceptional case, abortion was not even considered an option because life was viewed as sacred. “
This was his view in 1980, even before the internet and social media had invaded our homes with vile pornography and people expressing hatred towards others, friends and family members on Twitter and Facebook. While Secretary of State, Hillary gave government contracts to supporters and countries that donated millions of dollars to her and her husband’s Clinton’s Foundation. A bribe? Remember, this was a sin Amos said of the leaders of Israel.
People on the street are heard saying today that the rich (or elite including politicians) are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. The Middle Class is hurting now more than 15 years ago. The mortgage crisis when the government ordered lenders to give mortgages to people who utterly couldn’t afford them. How many people lost their homes or went bankrupt because of that? This was a major blow to America’s Middle Class.
“Did you know that not only is Obama determined to bankrupt the United States, he’s out to destroy the middle class in the bargain,” said Michael Savage , a radio talk show host, in his book “Trickle Down Tyranny.” “…when Obama attacks Wall Street he’s only trying to divert attention from his own partners in crime: the very banks and big businesses that he is in league with as he pushes his economic takeover.
“His real target is the middle class. Like Lenin, Obama is determined to confiscate wealth and redistribute it. He’s not going to redistribute it to the people, though. He’s going to redistribute it to the financial elite who are rapidly gaining control of our economy. By the time they’re done running up debt, printing money, and raising taxes, all but the wealthiest will be reduced to poverty and dependence on our government.
“In the process, the middle class – better known to the Leninist sympathizers who make up Obama’s financial team as the bourgeoisie – will disappear, as it has done in every big government socialist economy in the world.
“Communist economies never transfer wealth to the poor and middle classes. They transfer it to government officials and their cronies. That’s what’s going on right here in the United States.”
Charles Barkley, a former NBA basketball star, said: “Black people have voted for Democrats their whole life, they’re still poor.”
Hillary Clinton has said she will continue Obama’s agenda if elected president.
Hillary also has made a “stunning declaration of war on religious Americans,” said Marc A Thiessen, a former chief speechwriter for Pres. George W. Bush. On Oct. 13, 2016, Thiessen wrote in the “Washington Post” that when Clinton spoke to the 2015 Women in the World Summit, she declared that “deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed.”
“Clinton believes that, as president, it is her job not to respect the views of religious conservatives but to force them to change their beliefs and bend to her radical agenda favoring taxpayer-funded abortion on demand,” wrote Thiessen. “… (a) trove of emails—which, according to WikiLeaks, come from the accounts of Clinton staff—show(s) the rampant anti-Catholic bigotry that permeates Clinton World.
“In a 2012 email that WikiLeaks says was sent to John Podesta, now chairman of the Clinton campaign, Vocies for Progress president Sandy Newman writes that ‘there needs to be a Catholic Spring, in which Catholics themselves demand the end of a middle ages dictatorship and the beginning of a little democracy and respect for gender equality in the Catholic church and proposed that the Clinton team ‘plant the seeds of the revolution’ to change Catholic teaching. Podesta replies, ‘We created Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good to organize for a moment like this.’”
Thiessen said that apparently when Clinton aides speak in private, their basket of “deplorables” includes faithful Catholics and evangelicals who believe in the sanctity of human life.
“If they had made such comments about any other group, they would be politically excommunicated,” Thiessen wrote. “Yet the mainstream media has, for the most part, ignored these revelations of anti-religious bias,” Thiessen concludes.
And, in the news we have read these stories: “Tim Kaine, Virginia governor and Clinton vice-president running mate, has defended why his administration forced the sudden resignation of five Virginia State Police chaplains because they prayed “in Jesus’ name.”
Also, “Two Baptist chaplains said they were forced out of a Veterans Affairs chaplain training program after they refused orders to stop quoting the Bible and to stop praying in the name of Jesus.”
Is God and Jesus taking note?
It is clear in the Bible that God would want the fetus, or baby, in a woman’s womb to be protected. “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” Psalm 139: 13,14a “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5
Several months ago, Clinton said on “Meet the Press” that “the unborn person doesn’t have constitutional rights.” It is clear she would allow the abortion of a fetus, or baby, in the 3rd trimester and even minutes before birth.
Days later on “The View,” Clinton elaborated: “Under our law that is the case,… I support Roe vs. Wade because I think it is an important — an important statement about the importance of a woman making this most difficult decision with consultation by whom she chooses: her doctor, her faith, her family. And under the law and under certainly that decision, that is the way we structure it.”
Is God seeing these “sins” in America? Will judgment someday come to our land? Will He do to us what He did to Israel? Is America’s same-sex marriage law a sin? Remember when God judged Sodom and Gomorrah. Men wanted to have sex with two male strangers in Lot’s home. Only Lot and his family, minus one who disobeyed the Lord, came out alive.
There is hope:
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2Chronicles 7:14
