Yesterday a baby lovebird in my outdoor aviary came out of the nesting box for the first time to experience the real world. He will have a hard time because his right leg is deformed.
He hobbles around on the ground the best he can, and he has learned how to flutter up to a perch and the wire mesh and grab on with his good foot.
A parent often flies next to the lame lovebird and pushes and encourages him to do the best he can inside the aviary along with the other 23 healthy lovebirds.
He may not be agile as the others, but he has guts to hang in there and do the best he can.
